Our take
Four kilometers from Juan Santamaría International Airport, with a pool, an open-air bath, yoga classes and massages, Hacienda Escondida turns a transit night into a rest. The 9.2 on 665 ratings is a large, reliable sample. Travelers looking for a beach or a rainforest setting should treat it as a base for the first or last night, not a destination. I would book it exactly for that.
- ✓Take advantage of the massage service or yoga classes for a truly relaxing experience.

Why guests love itI would book Hacienda Escondida for a night or two near the airport that feels like more than a transit stop. Family rooms have private bathrooms, air conditioning and garden views, and the grounds add a sun terrace, an open-air bath and a year-round outdoor pool. A massage service, yoga classes and free Wi-Fi are listed, and the airport is 4 km away. Rated 9.2 on 665 ratings, it is a well-tested pick for arrival and departure nights.
